America, A Divided Nation

By
As we celebrate the 4th of July this year we celebrate as a troubled nation that has an unclear future. America, for the first time in history, is a clearly and deeply divided nation. The last Presidential election shook our nation to our very core, and sides were formed more clearly that ever before. More than ever in the history of the United States of America every Christian needs to be on their knees repenting and praying for the healing and future of our country. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Ch 7:14.
The Bible says, “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.” Mr 3:24. We are living in a divided nation because of the sinful practices we have allowed to come into the government of our country. Many of you have never heard of David Wilkerson, the preacher. He wrote a book of warning in 1979 to America called, Set The Trumpet to Thy Mouth. David was warning our nation of impending judgment from God because of our sins and compromises in our nation. He saw ahead the flood of filth that was coming upon our nation. He called for a return to God and Biblical principles that cause a nation to be blessed, as we were as a nation for many years. He called God’s people to repentance and prayer.
Right now we need a Holy Spirit revival across this land so that the hearts of all are touched by the hand of God. Otherwise we will not stand as a nation in the future. Even at our door you can see the diminishing of America. “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: ” Mt 12:
Some say that it was President Donald Trump who divided our nation, but that could not be further from the truth. The split in our country comes because of the deep ravine of convictions and beliefs between liberal non-believers, and the conservative backbone of this country, Christians. Our nation has been on this course since the chipping away at Biblical values shifted into high gear, which happened after the Roe verses Wade case. The legalization of abortion put our nation on a deadly route. And it opened up other side roads that further drove our nation into ungodly ways. The final nail in our coffin as a country was the declaration that a married couple could be a man and a man or a woman and a woman. Same sex marriages have become acceptable in 55% of Americans, bringing a solid split in our nation. God’s creation plan clearly defines marriage as a man and a woman. God created Eve out of Adam’s rib to be his helpmate. Ge 2:22.
Though we live as many nations together America originally began as a Christian nation, and one that was committed to remaining a Christian nation. Many have gone back to the roots of our nation in seeking where they are to stand in the midst of the turmoil we all are seeing.
During the last election we saw Christians taking their place and standing up saying, “Enough! We will not let our Christian values be bent any further, and we will take back what was stolen from us. We did not stand up strong enough or loud enough when the first attack on our Christian values hit with “Roe verses Wade”. If you were a Christian living when that happened and you didn’t stand up against that decision you need to repent. We should have all rose up together before we let all those precious babies be killed.
The God of the Bible is whom the United States is based upon. Our judicial system was founded on The Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments were chosen by our early forefathers to guide our laws and our country. James Madison, the fourth president, known as “The Father of Our Constitution” made the following statement. “We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”
Our country has drifted so far away from those commandments that there are those of the liberals who want them removed not only from buildings, but also from our children’s hearts. The Common Core teaching, promoted by Obama in the public schools, introduced in 2010 has removed all-important historical facts and founding facts of our country, especially where there were Christian principals in practice within our nation.
Charles M. Blow wrote for the New York Times “America is quickly dividing itself into two separate nations, regional enclaves of rigid politics, as the idea of common national priorities fades further into a distant past.”
“The primary purpose for establishing schools in early America was to teach everyone to be able to read and understand the Holy Bible. Our first college, Harvard, in its original rules charged “every student” “to lay Christ in the bottome, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning.” and that “Every one shall so exercise himself in reading the Scriptures twice a day”” (A History of Harvard University, Benjamin Peirce, 1833, Appendix, p. 5). In fact, of the first one hundred and eight colleges in America, one hundred and six were founded by and for the Christian faith. “In founding Harvard, Yale, and other American colleges, the propagation of Christianity as a leading purpose of higher, as well as of popular education, was avowed by their founders, and by all provisions and grants of government.” (The Bible in Schools, W. W. Everts, 1870, p. 9).”
The early reading books of our nation were the Bible, and books that were based upon Biblical principals. Just to name a few: Dilworth’s Spelling-Book, 1796, Beauties Of The Bible, 1806, Right of the Bible in Our Public Schools, 1859, Right of the Bible in Our Public Schools, 1859, Bible Readings For Schools, 1897, The Elementary Spelling Book, 1908, and The Second Reader of The School and Family, 1860.
We need to go back to the origin of our country and pick up the Biblical values our forefathers held so dear in their hearts. “Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways, and see and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” Jer. 6:16. As we join to pray for our country let us repent of our own sins. May God Bless America Again!
