Fear Not -277
by Michael L. Brandes
When JESUS was born and the “shepherds
were in the same country abiding in the
field...” “the Angel of the Lord came upon
them...” and said to them: “Fear not, for
behold, I bring you good tidings of great
joy, which shall be unto all people. For
unto you is born this day in the city of
David, a Saviour, which is Christ the
Lord” (Luke 2:10,11).
Notice the command “Fear Not.” In
addition to the several hundred times that
“fear” is used in the Bible from beginning
to end, there was another crucial time
when the Angel of the Lord appeared and
spoke, this time, to the women at the tomb
(Mary Magdalene and the other Mary), when
they discovered that the stone had been
rolled away, and that JESUS was gone. I
Then the Angel spoke to them and said,
“Fear Not”: for I know that you seek
JESUS, which was crucified. “He is not
here, for HE is RISEN” (from the dead).
Dear friends, just as the message at
Christmas (when Jesus was Born) was “Fear
Not,” so was the message at Easter, “Fear
Not.” Fear not what man may do to you;
Fear not what tomorrow may bring; Fear not
for your life, for as Jesus said, “the
life is more than meat, and the body is
more than raiment” (Luke 12:22,23). If you
are one who is a Christian, then FEAR NOT.
If you are not a Christian, then fear for
your eternal life. The message of Easter
is “FEAR NOT,” for JESUS is risen. He is
in Heaven. He is alive. Yes, He is alive!
