Hear The Word Of The Lord
by Judy Ogar
I was reading the bible one morning and I began to understand a verse
that I had
not taken much thought on before. The verse was in Ezekiel chapter 37.
In this chapter the writer says that God showed him a valley full of
many> very dry bones.
The Lord then asked him a question. “Can these bones live?’’ Remember
these bones were very
dry. In verse 4 he says,” Again He said to me, ‘Prophecy to these
bones, and say to them,’’ 0
dry bones , hear the Word of the Lord!’.
Isn’t that amazing? God did not care that the bodies were dead, the
bones completely dry
and scattered and not even attached together anymore. He just expected
the dry bones to
hear. He expected the dead to hear. He knew the dead could hear His
voice. Not only that they
would hear but that they would obey and come alive. He knew they would
come alive when they
heard Him! These bones were beyond resusitation. Before there was life
He told the bones to
hear..
It did not matter how the bodies had come to be in this dead and dry
condition. I thought
as I read that we feel like these bones sometimes. Whatever has
happened to us or around us
to cause us to feel dead God speaks and because He knows we can hear
Him He commands us
to hear His Word: His Words of love, good thins and new life..
In John chapter 11 there is the story of Lazarus. Lazarus got sick and
died. He was even
buried in a dark cave with a stone in front of it. He had also been
bound up in burial clothes and
had been dead long enough to stink. But Jesus did not care about those
things.He a simply
said, “Take the stone away.” (Verse 38) He stood outside the burial
sight and commanded,
“Lazarus come out!” (Verse 43) He expected the dead to hear His
voice-His Word.
Verse 44 says, “And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with
graveclothes
and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said said, ‘Loose him and let
him go.’”
Do we feel dead sometimes? Yes we do. It does not matter whether we
died because of sin,
anger, resentment, disappointments, burnout or whatever has happened.
God knows that we
can hear His Word. His Words of life..
God expected and knew that Lazarus would hear and come alive to Hid
command. He
walked out. He stood up and came forth from all that had caused death
and walked int new life.
Lazarus did not have to make himself alive. All he had to do was to
hear God’s Word to him.
God knows that if we hear Him just as Lazarus did while even still
bound up that He will
Loose us into new life and freedom.. John 11:25-26 Jesus says~ “I
am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me,
). though he may die, he shall live, And whoever lives and believes
in Me shall never die. Do you
believe this?”.
11Corinthians 1:20 says, “For no matter how many promises God has
made. They are ‘Yes’
in Christ, and so through Him the ‘Amen’,is spoken to us by the glory
of God.’’
Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the
Lord, plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
