America - The Next Sodom and Gomorrah?

America - The Next Sodom and Gomorrah?
Jay Christian Huynh
In the days of Abraham and Lot, Sodom and Gomorrah were considered the
most wicked of cities for their abundance of sin. Before their
destruction, Abraham had asked the Lord if He would spare these two
sinful cities if only ten righteous people were found within the whole
settlement. The Lord agreed to spare both cities if even ten righteous
people were found amongst the sinful people. After they spoke, the
Lord sent two of His angels to Sodom to confirm the cries of excessive
sin from Sodom and Gomorrah. During the two angels’ trips, Lot,
Abraham’s nephew, had persistently asked the angels to stay with him
and his family for the night. While the angels of God were inside
Lot’s home, the men of Sodom had come to Lot’s home and asked Lot to
hand over the angels of the Lord so that they may “know them” (there
are many translations of “know them” but the most direct of them all
were that the men of Sodom wanted to commit homosexual immorality with
the angels of God). After Lot refused, the men even tried to break
down the door. However the angels struck the men blind and escaped
with Lot, his wife and his daughters. Not even 10 people were found
righteous among the people of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18-19).
Though the people of Sodom and Gomorrah have been long gone, the sins
of these people continue to happen in the United States of America.
Las Vegas, Nevada, also known as “Sin City”, is a great example
because of its gambling and immorality. However, evil is happening
almost everywhere in the U.S, such as the recent violent crimes
including the Oregon School shooting, the shooting in Newtown,
Connecticut, the shooting in Aurora, Colorado and many more. The great
number of violences in the United States combined with immorality has
made it clear that the Lord has begun to cease blessing the United
States. These kinds of people who ignore God are also described in the
Bible as appearing in large multitudes during the end times.
“But know this, that in the last days grievous times will be upon us.
For men will be lovers of themselves, money-lovers, braggarts,
arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
without natural feeling, unyielding, slanderers, without self-control,
savage, haters of good, betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but
denying the power of it; even turn away from these” (II Timothy
3:1-5 – Literal Translation of the Holy Bible).
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed through divine fire bombarding the
cities. Now, the U.S is threatened by a super volcano within
Yellowstone National Park that could destroy two-thirds of the United
States and even leave these areas uninhabitable, much like how Sodom
and Gomorrah were left uninhabitable from divine fire [1].
Could this divine fire be similar to the molten rock and ash that
might potentially rain from the Yellowstone super volcano, or could
this divine fire be the threat of a nuclear strike with fallout and
radiation destroying the United States? With many churches endorsing
and embracing sin, there are a minority of true Christians left, which
could be diminished through the misguiding of false prophets or
violent crimes. By the time these things happen, the United States may
already start persecuting Christians such as in recent years, where
many Christian organizations have been labeled as “domestic hate
groups” [2].
“But as the days of Noah, so also will be the coming of the Son of
Man. For as they were in the days before the flood: eating, and
drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah
went into the ark. And they did not know until the flood came and took
all away. So also will be the coming of the Son of Man. At that time
two will be out in the field; the one is taken away, and the one is
left; two grinding at the mill; one is taken away, and one is left.
Watch, then, for you do not know in what hour your Lord comes. But
know this, that if the housemaster had known in what watch the thief
comes, he would have watched and not have allowed his house to be dug
through. Because of this, you also be ready, for in that hour you
think not, the Son of Man comes” (Matthew 24:37-44 – Literal
Translation of the Holy Bible).
Even before all of this, in the days of Noah, nearly the whole
population of Earth was swept away in the Great Flood, while drinking,
eating, giving in marriage, and taking part of wicked practices much
like the situation of Sodom and Gomorrah. The sin of Earth was so
great that God regretted that He made mankind. The sin of Earth now is
so much more evil than it had before, where there is even more crime
with a higher population of people who ignore God than ever before.
Before we know it, the whole Earth could be in a situation even worse
than Sodom and Gomorrah. Even so, God has given the human race many
warnings through His Word, the Bible, and the prophets He sent to tell
us of these events.
“Men, Ninevites will rise up in the Judgment with this generation, and
will condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. And,
behold, a Greater-than-Jonah is here” (Luke 11:32 – Literal
Translation of the Holy Bible).
Acknowledge the warnings and signs of God to avoid perishing like the
son-in-laws of Lot, who ignored God’s warning. Always look towards the
Lord, not having doubts in His power by looking back and perishing
like Lot’s own wife. The only thing the people of America can do to
prepare for this event is to repent to the Lord of their sins and
remain holy. Though it will not guarantee life of the flesh, be
assured that your soul will be saved, and not lost in hell. The end
times are dangerously near and real. Turn to the Lord for guidance and
repent of your sins. Let the Lord heal the sins of the past, and rely
on him to protect you from evil. Not only should Americans tread
carefully in life, but those of other countries should also be
cautious because America isn’t the only Sodom and Gomorrah in the
world today.
“and saying -- ‘ Fulfilled hath been the time, and the reign of God
hath come nigh, reform ye, and believe in the good news.’” (Mark 1:15
– Literal Translation of the Holy Bible).
